WHAAT!? THUMBS DOWN FOR ASKING FOR CLARIFICATION!?! You people sicken me.
Housing numbers are assigned by the town to follow a logical sequence – which makes finding an address easy. Odd numbers on one side of the street and even numbers on the other. Some neighborhoods will have the numbers in sequence – others seem to have big gaps between numbers. If there are big gaps in your neighborhood, you may be able to petition the city to change your house number. But I doubt they will do it. Remember that number is not just on your home, but in the records for the utility companies, fire department, post office. Changing it will be a big undertaking and “not a good number” is not a good reason.
In the US it would be your city zoning department.
